The Jazmin Journal: Actualize
Congratulations Jazmin! Jazmin Pineda, 2016 Evogen Elite Model Search Winner, competed in the NPC Music City Muscle show in Nashville, TN, this past weekend. This was her first official bodybuilding competition, and as a rookie she slayed it by winning the Novice Bikini Overall and placing 2nd out of 13 women in the Open Bikini Class C. We caught up with the champ after the competition to get her personal perspective on the experience, from the beginning of prep to her big moment on stage.
What words would you use to describe your experience at your first show? My experience at my first show was amazing! Coming into a competition for the first time can be scary since you don't really know what to expect. I was very nervous pulling up to the venue, but once I arrived and I saw how confident all the competitors were around me, I quickly changed my attitude. I went from being shy and nervous to feeling 100% confident about the package that I was going to show to the judges. I think the most important part about competing is believing 100% in yourself, giving everything you have, and not holding back once you're up on that stage. That will help build your confidence up and show the judges that you deserve to be up there. You were in the center during the callouts, what was going through your head as you were hitting your poses next to the competition for that top spot? Slow and steady wins the race! I just kept telling myself to be graceful, pose slowly, arch like no other, and keep everything as tight as possible. Most importantly, I kept direct eye contact with the judges. I made sure I did everything I could to deserve that top spot. What was the most challenging part of prep? The most challenging part of prep for me were my hormones. I have endometriosis, and as a result it is very hard for me to control my hormones. That was the biggest challenge for me. Prep can be very difficult at times and you will have to make many sacrifices, such as waking up early for cardio, working out late at night, and staying in on some weekends so that you aren't tempted to eat unhealthy foods. It can be very challenging, but once you're on that stage it makes everything worth it. What was the most rewarding part of prep? The most rewarding part of prep is the end result. Come stage time, you look at yourself in the mirror and see everything you've worked so hard for. It makes all the obstacles, all the hunger, and all the cardio worth it! How did being an EvogenElite Athlete play into your success and overall experience? Being an Evogen Elite Athlete means having an unwavering discipline built upon a balanced lifestyle. It also means having a humble confidence that serves as inspiration. During my prep I was able to balance out my emotions, my actions, and my responsibilities in the pursuit of finding my genetic potential. Knowing that I was representing Hany Rambod and such a great team brought so much humble confidence on that stage, and I think the judges were able to feel my stage confidence. What was your supplement protocol in the last 4 weeks leading up to your show? AM Before Cardio: 1 scoop Carnigen Grape, 1 scoop AminoJect Cherry Limeade Post Cardio: 1 capsule Lipocide Pre-Workout: 1 scoop EVP PLUS Raspberry Lemonade, 1 scoop AminoJect Cherry Limeade Post-Workout: 1 scoop IsoJect Chocolate
