Non-Stim vs Stim Pre-Workout Optimal Timing

Non-Stim vs Stim Pre-Workout Optimal Timing

Do you use pre-workouts?  Do you prefer a non-stim pre-workout or a stim pre-workout?  A common question being asked these days is how to time them?  Is there an optimal time to take your non-stim or stim-based pre-workout?  And while there may not be an answer that fits everyone, there are a few things you need to consider and take advantage of.  Being that Evogen has a wide variety of pre-workouts available, we want to make sure you are able to effectively use them to get the results you desire from your training.

Now, I want to preface this with something that should seem obvious but needs to be clearly stated.  You and only you know your body better than anyone.  If you are sensitive to stimulants, the clear winner in this conversation is going to be a non-stim pre-workout.  Do not use a stimulant-based pre-workout if you know you will have adverse effects from it or you have any health concerns where stimulants can create any issues. Unsure if you’re healthy enough to consume stimulants?  Consult with your doctor before using any stim-based pre-workouts.

Leverage Your Morning and Afternoon Workouts to Your Advantage

Using a stimulant-based pre-workout in the morning or afternoon is a great play.  Not only do you get your workout out of the way so you can enjoy the rest of your day, but the effects of the caffeine can help keep your mind and body energized well into the day – allowing you to be as productive as possible.

Even better, you can save the money you’d normally spend on a morning cup of coffee to wake you up by downing a serving of your stim-based pre-workout before your workout which can help carry you throughout the day.

What you want to do is schedule your workouts in advance so you can plan your pre-workout optimal timing.  Not only do you not want to take your pre-workout too soon, but you also don’t want to take it too late and not maximize the potency of the ingredients found in various formulas.

For instance, if you were looking to use Evogen EVP Xtreme N.O., you would want to take 1-2 scoops (according to your tolerance level) around 20-30 minutes before your workout.  This will allow the ingredients to be absorbed and start taking effect so that when you walk into the gym, you're ready to annihilate your workout.

Skip the Stims at Night or If You’re Sensitive to Stimulants

If you’re like most Americans, you don’t get enough sleep as is.  The last thing you need is to lay in bed, wide awake because you downed a pre-workout full of stimulants two hours earlier.  Therefore, at night, your best bet would be a non-stim pre-workout product.  You’ll still get all the benefits of getting ready to do war with the weights, only without the excessive rush of energy that can last hours.

Additionally, if you are the type of person who can’t handle stimulants because they make you feel all jittery and uncomfortable, a non-stim pre-workout would work great for you in this instance as well.

A common misconception is that if you aren’t using a stimulant-based pre-workout, that everything else you would use couldn’t hold a candle to the potency of stimulants.  This couldn’t be any further from the truth.  In fact, it’s the whole reason Evogen launched EVP-3D.  This stim-free pre-workout is a gamechanger in the pre-workout category as it can produce drastic results with your workout, all the while eliminating the need for stimulants.

Non-stim pre-workouts like EVP-3D can help you get dialed into your workout by elevating your mental focus.  When you’re fully focused on your workout, you can get just as good of a workout, if not a better workout when compared to the use of a stim-based pre-workout.  You get the advantage of an insane pump due to the vasodilation and nitric oxide producing ingredients as well as seeing an increase in vascularity.

In the case of EVP-3D, all you need to do is consume one scoop 20-30 minutes before your workout. Something to take note of is the fact that due to the beta-alanine found in the formula, you may experience a tingly sensation (different from the sensation you may experience when using stimulants).

Why Not Have the Best of Both Worlds?

Have you ever considered combining pre-workouts?  Now, that doesn’t mean mixing a full serving of both together, but rather a half-serving of both.  For example, if you want a little extra energy boost from a stimulant-based pre-workout but also want the benefits of a non-stim pre-workout that leverages mental focus and a pump, combine Evogen EVP Xtreme N.O. and EVP-3D 20-30 minutes before your workouts.  Simply add half of a serving from each and you're ready to go.  This will provide you with a super-strong pump along with a mild stimulant effect.

How About Inviting a +1 to Your Pump-Up Party?

One such product that is having a profound effect on physiques and workouts is Evogen EVP AQ.  This product was created to be an add-on to your pre-workout regimen.  EVP AQ is a premium liquid muscle volumizer capable of providing insane pumps, enhanced vascularity, as well as noticeable muscle fullness.  EVP AQ can even be used as a standalone if you wish to do so.  Either way, using one serving 20-30 minutes before training can positively affect your results in the gym.
